Case Study · Lubricant Expo Middle East

Building a Beacon Nobody Could Walk Past

When the world’s largest lubrication-technology brand planted its flag in the Middle East, it did so at Festival Arena, Dubai — the debut edition of Lubricant Expo Middle East. The brief was simple to state and hard to deliver: be the stand nobody walks past.

The Brief

To be seen first — and rewarded on a closer look

The brief landed on 16 December, deceptively simple and genuinely hard. In a debut show, with the industry sizing up who belonged at the front of a new regional market, presence wasn’t a nice-to-have — it was the entire point.

For three days in January, more than a thousand buyers, suppliers, and technical specialists from across the lubricants value chain would move through a single hall. The charge was to translate that ambition into a custom build that read as premium from the door and rewarded a closer look once visitors arrived.

A debut show is where reputations are made — a stand that looks anything less than deliberate is not an option.

The Plan

Where a booth stops feeling ordinary and starts feeling expensive

Two days after sign-off, the project, design, marketing, and production teams turned intent into a buildable specification — moving fast from concept to the details that actually decide whether a stand reads premium.

  • Hanging structure, crowned A custom-painted rig with vinyl logos, engineered to read across the floor and claim the vertical space where the eye travels.
  • Arm lights, aimed up Illumination built into the rig to lift the frontage — a well-lit booth face is one of the best predictors of whether a visitor stops.
  • Furniture-grade counters Spray-painted finishes for a seamless surface, not a wrapped one.
  • The curved ceiling Worked through in detail — exactly where paint should end and graphics begin, so the two never compete or reveal a seam.
  • Zero-imperfection rule Every graphic installed without a single wrinkle, bubble, or visible flaw — at this level those are the first things a discerning visitor notices.
  • Runway protected A firm client graphics deadline, with progress photographs collected and reviewed before anything left for dispatch.

Showtime

A two-day window, choreographed to the minute

With only a two-day build-up window, the choreography between the production floor and the onsite crew had to be exact — there was no spare day to recover lost time. Every panel, light fixture, and graphic was checked against the approved design as it went up, and the completed stand was handed over before the first visitor crossed the threshold.

That early handover let Sunshield begin trading from the moment the doors opened — no scramble, no touch-ups, no compromise on first impressions.

What We Took Away

Three lessons that travel to the next build

A debut show in a new market is exactly where the margins matter — here is what we carried forward.

01

Mind the flooring

Where exhibition flooring isn’t raised, light carpet shows heavy-traffic dirt within hours and dulls a pristine stand. Darker shades are the safer choice.

02

Beat the paperwork

Completing organiser service and documentation requirements well ahead of schedule eliminates an entire class of last-minute, day-of complications.

03

Client owns the chain

When a client deals directly with organisers, the cleanest workflow is for them to open the communication, file the forms, and keep the project team copied on everything.

Exhibiting at a debut show? Make the first impression count.

From concept to a flawless, premium handover — design, fabrication, and on-site execution under one roof.
