Twice the floor on the same footprint

A double-decker exhibition stand — also called a two-storey or double-deck booth — turns a fixed floor footprint into two usable levels. Where prime island space at Dubai World Trade Centre, ADNEC and Dubai Exhibition Centre is limited and priced at a premium, building upward is often the most rational way to add meeting rooms, hospitality and storage without paying for a larger plot.

The ground level stays open for product, live demos and visitor traffic, while the upper deck hosts private meetings, a VIP lounge or hospitality away from the noise. On the same footprint you gain roughly 1.5x to 2x the usable area, and a raised deck reads as a landmark — visible from across a busy hall and lifting your brand above the sightline of every single-level booth around it.

SOL Dubai designs, engineers and builds two-storey stands across the UAE and the wider GCC. We run our own Dubai fabrication workshop, so the structural frame, staircase and upper deck are built and trial-assembled under our roof before anything ships to the show floor. Structural calculations, venue approval submissions and on-site supervision are all handled by our own team, not passed to a third party.

That single point of ownership matters most on a two-storey build, because engineering and venue approval gate everything that follows. The stand that goes up is the stand that was certified — no surprises during build-up, and no gap between the concept you signed off and the structure that reaches the hall.

What We Build

What a double-decker stand includes

The elements that make a two-storey build work as one connected experience.

Open ground floor

Product, live demos and visitor traffic on an open, welcoming lower level.

Upper deck

A VIP lounge, hospitality area or private meeting rooms set above the floor.

Engineered staircase

A certified staircase positioned to protect sightlines and invite the right visitors up.

Glass balustrades

Code-height balustrades and toughened glass for an open, transparent upper edge.

Under-stair storage

Storage, AV racks and server kit tucked beneath the stairs, out of the display.

Feature lighting & branding

Backlit graphics, LED screens and branded balustrades over an engineered base.

How It Works

How we design and build your two-storey stand

A stricter sequence than a single-level stand, because engineering and approval gate everything after.

  1. Feasibility & venue check — we confirm the hall clearance height, the floor loading limit and the organiser’s rules for two-storey builds before any design begins — this single check decides whether a double-decker is viable on your plot.
  2. Concept & 3D design — we lay out both levels together, position the staircase to protect sightlines, and return a 3D concept with an itemised fixed quotation within 48–72 working hours.
  3. Structural engineering & approvals — a qualified engineer produces stamped calculations for deck, staircase and floor loads, then we compile and submit the venue and Civil Defence approval pack on your behalf.
  4. In-house fabrication — the frame, deck and staircase are built and trial-assembled in our Dubai workshop, so every element is proven to fit before it ships.
  5. Installation & certification — our crew installs during build-up, an independent engineer signs the structure off, and a safety check is completed before doors open to visitors.
  6. On-site support & teardown — a supervisor stays on the floor through every show day for instant fixes, then we dismantle, remove and offer storage for your next edition.
Why SOL Dubai

When a double-decker is the right call

A two-storey build is not the right answer for every brief, and we will tell you that early. It tends to make sense when three things line up: you hold an island or peninsula plot of roughly 36 square metres or more, the hall has the clearance height to carry a second level, and you genuinely need the private upstairs space — for back-to-back meetings, investor conversations or hospitality.

Where the hall height is capped, the floor loading is restricted, or the budget is better spent on a single striking ground-floor design, we steer you toward a custom single-level stand instead. The venue height and the organiser’s regulations ultimately govern feasibility, which is exactly why our first step is always a check, not a design. Decide who needs hosting away from the floor and what they need to do up there, and the deck layout designs itself.

Insider Tips

Getting a double-decker right

CD
Carlos Dalè
General Manager, SOL Dubai — stand design & build
01

Check hall height first

Confirm the venue clearance and floor loading before anything else — it decides whether two storeys are even possible on your plot.

02

Design the staircase early

The stair position dictates the open frontage, the under-stair storage and how the eye travels up. Fix it first, not last.

03

Engineer before you decorate

Stamped calculations and the approval pack come before finishes. A certified structure is the part that keeps visitors safe.

04

Plan upstairs around meetings

Let your sales motion shape the deck — meeting rooms, a lounge or a demo theatre — rather than fitting it to a template.

Experience

Two-storey stands across the UAE & GCC

We engineer and build double-deckers for the region’s most demanding shows.

Two-storey stands are common in sectors where face-to-face deal-making is the point of attending. Real estate and property developers use the upper deck for private negotiation rooms; oil, gas and energy majors build double-deckers for delegation hospitality at shows like ADIPEC; technology, pharma and automotive brands use the raised level for demo theatres, press briefings or VIP lounges while the ground floor stays open to the crowd.

We handle the structural approval requirements of each venue, including DWTC, ADNEC, Dubai Exhibition Centre and the major halls across Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha and Muscat. Our in-house Dubai workshop builds and trial-assembles the structure before it travels, so the deck and staircase are proven to fit before they reach the show floor.

A two-storey build in Dubai starts from AED 3,200 per square metre, with the final figure shaped by the deck area, the amount of glass and balustrade, the staircase design and the level of AV and hospitality fit-out. Share your show, plot size and brief and we return a free 3D concept with a fixed, itemised quotation — no upfront fee.

FAQ

Double-decker exhibition stand questions

What is a double-decker exhibition stand?
A double-decker is a two-storey booth that places a second usable level above the ground floor. The lower level holds product, demos and traffic, while the upper deck is used for private meetings, a VIP lounge or hospitality. It gives roughly 1.5x to 2x the usable area on the same footprint, which is why brands choose it when island space is limited or expensive.
What is the minimum size for a two-storey stand?
Double-deckers generally start from around 36 square metres of island or peninsula floor. Below that, a staircase and structural frame consume too much of the ground level to be worthwhile. The other deciding factor is the hall clearance height, which must allow a second level plus headroom. We confirm both before any design begins.
Do double-decker stands need structural approval?
Yes. Two-storey stands require stamped structural calculations and, at venues such as DWTC, an independent engineer’s certificate plus Civil Defence sign-off, submitted before a deadline ahead of build-up. SOL Dubai prepares the full approval pack and lodges it on your behalf, so approval is secured before fabrication is committed.
How much does a double-decker stand cost?
A two-storey build in Dubai typically starts from AED 3,200 per square metre. It sits at the premium tier because of the engineering, the staircase and the upper deck. The final figure depends on deck area, glass and balustrade, the staircase design and the level of AV and hospitality fit-out. We provide a fixed, itemised quote once we have your plot size and brief.
How long does a two-storey stand take to build?
Plan for a longer lead time than a single-level stand, because engineering and approval gate the schedule. We recommend confirming a double-decker at least 8 to 10 weeks before your show, which allows time for calculations, the approval submission, fabrication and trial assembly. Larger flagship builds benefit from more lead time again.
Is a double-decker stand safe for visitors?
Yes, when properly engineered. Every two-storey stand is backed by stamped calculations for deck, staircase and floor loads and signed off by an independent engineer on site before doors open. Anti-slip treads, code-height balustrades, fire-safe materials and clear evacuation routes are designed in from the start.
Can you reuse or store a double-decker between shows?
Yes. We design the frame, deck and key elements to be dismantled, stored and rebuilt for a future edition, often reconfigured to a different plot size. We dismantle and remove the stand after the show and offer storage between events, spreading the investment across several appearances.
Do you build double-deckers outside Dubai?
Yes. We deliver two-storey stands across the GCC, including Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha and Muscat, and handle the structural approval requirements of each venue. Our Dubai workshop builds and trial-assembles the structure before it travels, so it is proven to fit before it reaches the floor.
